Top 10 Sad and Emotional Moments to Me

Description

When it comes to sad moments, for the most parts, it gets to me. Here is my list of sad and emotional moments from various series and movies. And to make this interesting, I’m excluding Disney and Pixar because they know how to get you. So here are my picks of my favorite sad and emotional moments.

#10 Zilla’s Death (Godzilla TriStar/1998 film)
What happened to Zilla at the end of the movie was pretty sad to see. In addition to being trapped by the suspension cables from the Brooklyn Bridge, he was left vulnerable from rocket missiles from jet fighters and was hit twice from both sides of his body, resulting his death. It’s low on the list because it’s not as heartbreaking as Godzilla vs. Destroyah and some moments from the 2014 film. But it still gets to me at times, but that’s just me.

#9 Lucy’s and Kouta’s Last Moments (Elfen Lied)
This was a sad moment in the anime. At the end of the anime, Lucy reveals her remorse about the day she killed Kouta’s father and sister. Despite Kouta finding out the truth about Lucy and what she did to his father and sister, he still accepted her. Especially those moments they spend together as kids. Lucy then left to face the security team. Her fate is unknown except that her other horn gets broken (she lost her first horn in her fight with Mariko), while Kouta continues to live a normal life. This was one couple that sadly would never come to pass.

#8 Lisanna’s Return (Fairy Tail)
This moment really got to me. Everyone from the Fairy Tail guild was convinced that Lisanna was dead. But somehow, she survived and was transported in a different world, Edolas. When all the magic return to Earth Land, she returns as well. When she went to see her brother and sister, while they were visiting Lisanna’s gravesite, and they found out that she was alive, it just got me good. This is something Disney would come up with. To me, this was both emotional and tears of joy.

#7 Yuna’s Condition (Yuki Yuna is a Hero)
At the final battle against the Vertex’s final attack, all of the girls managed to block their attack while Yuna delivered the final blow. Soon after the battle, each of the girls slowly regains what they have lost, but Yuna was in a coma-like state as a result of her efforts. What gets to me is that, while Yuna is alive, it was just sad seeing her like that (at the time). Also, when Mimori started bursting into tears about Yuna’s condition, it also got to me. But I was relive when Yuna regain consciousness. For me, it was an emotional moment.

#6 Littlefoot’s Mother’s Death (The Land Before Time)
Soon after the earthquake (or earthshake), Littlefoot went to find his mother. He found her, but his mother was badly injured. Unable to go with her son, Littlefoot’s Mother asked him if he remembered the way to the Great Valley. Although Littlefoot wanted her to come with him, his Mother tells him that she always be with him. It’s always sad to see the death of a parent in movies and series. This scene is the equivalent to Disney’s Lion King and Bambi.

#5 Striker Eureka’s Sacrifice (Pacific Rim)
In a final attempted to destroy the Breach, the last two Jaeger’s (Gipsy Danger and Striker Eureka), prepares to deliver the payload but were stopped by Scunner, Raiju, and Slattern. Though Striker managed to endure Slattern’s attacks, the Jaeger’s missile launcher and the payload release were damaged. One of the pilots of Striker Eureka, Stacker Pentecost, urges Gipsy Danger (piloted by Mako and Raleigh) to reach to the portal since Gipsy is nuclear. To buy Mako and Raleigh time, Stacker and Chuck activated the nuclear payload to kill both Slattern and Scunner (Raiju was killed by Gipsy), although Slattern survived the explosion with severely wounds. This not only gets me, but also the final words that Stacker and Chuck said before they activated the payload.

In fact, here are their last words before they activated the payload:
Chuck: “What can we do, Sir?”
Stacker: “We can clear a path, for the Lady!”
Chuck: “Well my father always said, he said “If you had the shot, you take it”, so let’s do this. It was a pleasure, Sir.”

#4 Indominus Rex almost kills T. Rex (Jurassic World)
This was one of those moments where it gets epic at first, but then the table turns and not in a good way. It all starts between the fight with the T. Rex and the Indominus Rex, with the T. Rex making the first attack on the I. Rex, however the I. Rex slashed the T. Rex’s neck, grabbed her head, and then threw her to the ground. The T. Rex tried to get back on her feet, but Indominus just kept pushing her to ground. For the moment, the T. Rex was in pain and couldn’t get back up. While not a sad scene, for me, I get emotional just seeing this happening to the T. Rex.

#3 King Kong’s Death (Peter Jackson’s 2005 film)
There have been many versions of Kong’s death over the years, but Peter Jackson’s 2005 version was emotional. Kong climbs with Ann onto the top of the Empire State Building, where he fights off six F8C-5 Helldiver Navy planes, downing three. Despite his efforts, the planes managed to wound Kong. What gets me is his final roar at the planes. Before his death, he gazes at Ann for the last time before falling from the building. The way he fell also gets me. This version of Kong’s death still gets to me.

#2 Bumblebee’s Death (Transformers Prime)
In the final battle on the Nemesis, the Autobots and their human allies storm the ship and fought off most of the Decepticons and their army. During the fight between Optimus and Megatron, Bumblebee, also wielding the Star Saber, jumped to give Optimus the weapon, but Megatron notice him and fired at Bumblebee three times. What gets to me is that, in addition to being shot, is the song (the same song used when the Autobots base was destroyed by the Nemesis at the end of Season 2). This scene still gets to me every time.

Before I get to number 1, here are a few honorable mentions:
Sheele’s Death, Bols’s Death, and Kurome’s Death (Akame Ga Kill)
Hinaichigo’s Death (Rozen Maiden)
Autobot’s Base Destroyed (Transformers Prime)
Optimus Primes Death (The Transformers: The Movie, 1986)
Godzilla Juniors Death (Godzilla vs. Destroyah)

#1 Godzilla’s Meltdown/Death (Godzilla vs. Destoroyah)
This is one of the saddest moments in Godzilla history. When Birth Island was destroyed, Godzilla managed to absorbed all of the island’s energy, but it was also destroying him. A college student, Kenichi Yamane, theorizes that, when Godzilla’s temperature reaches 1,200 C, a massive meltdown will occur that will destroy the entire planet. Using the Super-X III to freeze Godzilla at the meltdown temperature point, the JSDF was able to prevent Earth’s destruction. While I understand the damage the Meltdown could have done, it still very sad on what happen to Godzilla. Especially as he gives a final roar as he dies.

Note1-Godzilla’s condition as been known as Burning Godzilla.
Note2-Tomoyuki Tanaka, the producer and creator of Godzilla, sadly passed away 2 years after the film was finished.

Like it or not, this is my opinion.

But on the plus side, Bumblebee came back from the dead just so he could rip Megatron a new one.
